September 30th, 2011 by hysa | No Comments | Filed in Savings Account

Capital One Bank, formerly Chevy Chase Bank with locations in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, is offering an InterestPlus Online Savings Account that comes with a $50 cash bonus.

Capital One Bank InterestPlus Online Savings Account is not a typical online savings account as it allows you to earn interest income at 0.85%APY on account balances of $1,000 or more. It is comparable to a high yield savings account wherein you get to earn a high interest rate on your savings account deposits. In addition, Capital One Bank InterestPlus Online Savings Account allows online savings account holders the incentive to earn 10% quarterly bonus on interest earned with use of your Capital One credit card once a month or when you have an average of $10,000 in your savings account. The minimum amount required to open the account is $1 only, but note the bank’s requirement in order for you to earn the $50 cash bonus plus the 10% quarterly bonus on interest earned.

Here is what you need to do to receive the $50 bonus:

  1. Open a new InterestPlus Online Savings Account with Capital One Bank;
  2. Use offer code BANK223DF at the time of account opening;
  3. Have a balance of $10,000 or more by January 15, 2012 in your new online savings account; and
  4. Get the $50 cash bonus.

It is required that the new online savings account must be your first account with Capital One Bank. The $50 cash bonus will be credited to your account 4 to 8 weeks after January 15, 2012. Your savings account must remain open at the time of crediting your bonus.

Capital One Bank is backed by FDIC insurance.

Online savings accounts comparison

May 17th, 2011 by hysa | 1 Comment | Filed in Savings Account

Searching where to find the best online savings account can be a bit of a challenge. It is overwhelming as you are overwhelmed as to how you can grow whatever money is left of your paycheck after paying all those bills.

Online savings account rates are pretty low, but we managed to gather quite a bit of information for online savings accounts with APY’s 1.00% and above. Here are what we found:

1. FNBO Direct online savings account, as of May 17, 2011, is 1.00%APY. With no monthly fees and no minimum balance requirements and with as little as $1 to open an account, this is a good option for those just starting out. As this is an online savings account, you have access to your account 24/7.

2. American Express high yield savings account at 1.15%APY as of May 17, 2011. Also, no fees or minimum balance requirements and 24/7 access to your account by phone or online.

InterestPlus Online Savings by Capital One at 1.35%APY plus 10% quarterly bonus

June 2nd, 2010 by hysa | No Comments | Filed in Savings Account

There is a great offer made by Capital One that is quite tempting considering the low savings account rates in the financial market today. If you want to consider parking your money with Capital One, go through the bank’s InterestPlus Online Savings where there is a great opportunity for you to earn 1.35%APY plus a 10% quarterly bonus on interest earned on qualifying accounts. Though an APY of 1.35% is still low compared to Capital One online savings account rate a year ago, the additional 10% quarterly bonus is already something to think about.

Capital One’s InterestPlus Online Savings is an online savings account that gives you 1.35%APY when you have $2,500 or more in your account. In addition, you will get an extra 10% quarterly bonus on your interest earned. The catch however is that you must keep a balance of at least $15,000 in your savings account each month or use a Capital One credit card at least once a month to qualify.

The balance requirement is ideal for those searching for higher interest rates on savings accounts and who have lots of funds to stash away but for a regular guy this could only be wishful saving.

Capital One also offers to its clients free online transfers to and from your existing external bank accounts with no fees.  A federally insured bank to at least $250,000 per depositor, Capital One is one of the top national banks.
