Centennial Bank of Fountain Valley, California, is offering a Variable Rate Tiered Savings Account with interest compounded daily and posted monthly. Only $500 minimum opening deposit is required. Rates effective September 1, 2009 are as follows:

• 1.01%APY for balances $500 to $9,999.99
• 1.26%APY for balances $10,000 to 24,999.99
• 1.51%APY for balances $25,000 to 49,999.99
• 1.77%APY for balances $50,000 to 99,999.99
• 2.02%APY for balances $100,000 and over.

The savings account however limits only four (4) withdrawals each month. Deposits are FDIC insured up to $250,000 per depositor.

e-Loan is currently promoting a Savings Plus account at 1.56%APY, a high interest rate savings account available only to balances of $100,000 and above. In other words, the APY you will get depends on how aggressive you are in growing your savings.

For example, if your Savings Plus account balance is between $50,000-$99,999.99, the APY is 1.51%. The higher your balance, the higher the APY. You will earn 1.35%APY only if your balance is between $5,000-$9,999.99.

The minimum opening balance required is $5,000. If your balance falls below this amount, your account will only earn the standard rate of 0.10%APY. In addition, you are required to make a regular monthly deposit of at least $100. Your Savings Plus account will be converted to a standard savings account if you fail to maintain at least $100 per month within the first 60 days of account opening.  If converted, account will only earn the standard rate.
