A performance savings account rate of 2.30%APY is offered by Heartland Bank Direct, a federally insured bank based in Saint Louis, Missouri.

The minimum deposit to open the Performance Savings Account is $500. The rate is accourate as of March 10, 2009 but subject to change at the bank’s discretion. There are no fees and no direct deposit required by the bank. However, the bank will charge you a fee of $25 if you close your account within 120 days of account opening.

In addition, there is a substantial fee for wire transfers, excessive transactions, and for insufficiency of funds, but  Standard Electronic Funds Transfers are Free.

Capital One offers an online savings account rate of 2.01%APY. Only $1.00 is required to open a Capital One Online Savings Account.

The 2.01%APY applies to online savings account balances of  $10,000–$24,999.99, $25,000–$49,999.99, $50,000–$99,999.99, and $100,000 or more. 1.01% APY applies to balances of $0.01–$99.99, $100–$4,999.99, and $5,000–$9,999.99.

There are no fees for maintaining an account and online transfers are free. However, withdrawals  by online transfers are limited to six per calendar month. Deposits are also FDIC insured up to $250,000 per depositor.

Presidential Online Bank  offers an online savings account that comes with a Free ATM Card. Presidential ATM Cards are FREE to all customers with savings accounts. All the customer has to do is request an ATM Card when they set up the savings account or by completing an application. With the ATM Card, customers will have worldwide access to their accounts through STAR and Cirrus ATM Networks.
