Here are some of the checking account promotions offered by banks in January 2010. Take a look at each of them and see if any interests you.

• Chase Bank. The bank offers an eBonus Certificate of up to 25,000 bonus miles when you open a new Chase Checking account, set up a direct deposit and make a qualifying purchase with your new Chase Continental Airlines Preferred Debit Card. Offer expires March 31, 2010.

• BBVA Compass.  There is a potential for you to earn up to $150. To get the first $75 bonus, all you need to do is: a) open a new BBVA Compass checking account online before its expiration date, which is February 28, 2010, b) sign up for online bill pay, c) pay at least five bills online every 30 days. You’ll get $25 for each month for a total of $75. To get the second $75 reward, you must do 1) open a new BBVA Compass checking account online by February 28, 2010 and sign up for payroll direct deposit, get the first payroll direct deposit within 30 days after account opening and you’ll get another $75 bonus. Note that this offer is not available in the branch office of the bank as this is an online exclusive offer. In addition, BBVA Compass has also refer a friend bonus for you and your friend.  $25 for you and $25 for your friend.
